2024-2025 Weekend Backpack Ministry

We know that hunger can impact a child's ability to concentrate and do well in school. We want to make sure that all children have enough food. Swansea First Baptist Church in cooperation with Harvest Hope Food Bank is providing food backpacks for children at Sandhills Primary and Sandhills Elementary who might go hungry on weekends when school meals are not available. 

Swansea First Baptist Church in cooperation with Harvest Hope Food Bank has partnered to feed hungry children through our Weekend Backpack Program, which provides meals for children after school. 

Many children only eat at school, and dread going home for the weekend when they know they will be hungry. Our backpack program operates during the school year.  The program provides children who are at risk of hunger with nutritious food to take home for the weekend. 

Backpacks or other containers are stocked with child-friendly and easy to prepare food, then typically distributed on Friday. 

The mission is to fill each child’s backpack with enough food for the weekend.
